This information is specifically
to help those travelling to Fryeburg from outside the USA,
especially our visitors from China, Taiwan and Korea.
The following notes will help you
arrive here comfortably and allow us to get you settled as quickly
as possible after a very long journey.
1. Reservations
When making your reservations either by phone or online, it is very important
to tell us:
- How many people will be
staying here
- How many beds you need in your
room
We have 6 rooms which have 1
bed - a US size Queen or King. These are for 2 people
only. If there are 3 of you and one is a child, we can put
an extra folding bed in certain rooms. We cannot do this for
adults. We have one room (the Jo) that has 2
beds - US size twins. If you need this
room, please reserve it in advance as we cannot offer
it on arrival. If
you arrive with more guests than are on your reservation,
or need more beds in your room than we can provide, you will
have to pay for an additional room. If we're full,
we'll help you find extra lodging elsewhere in town.
Important
note: Our cancellation policy is 14 days. If you decide,
for whatever reason, to cancel your room(s) when
you arrive, we cannot refund your deposit.
2. Food
Fryeburg is a small village. We only have
a couple of cafes that are open during the day, selling sandwiches
and snacks. Our two good restaurants,
The Oxford House (open Thursday - Sunday from 5pm) and the
302 West Smokehouse (open daily from 3pm) are within walking
distance from the inn. We do recommend that you try to
eat before you get here, especially if you're visiting during
the week and will arrive early in the afternoon.
Breakfast is included with your
room rate and we are very proud of our excellent reputation
for high quality cuisine. We offer a hot, American style meal
served between 8am and 9am (9:30am weekends) including Coffee/Tea,
choice of fruit juice, homemade breakfast breads
such as muffins or scones, then a fruit appetizer and an entrée,
both of which change daily. We
understand that this meal may be different from what you're used
to at home, but please try it! Because our kitchen has limitations,
we are unable to offer alternatives outside our daily menu. If
you have any food allergies, please tell us when you make your
reservations.
3. Travel
Fryeburg is a pleasant village and safe and easy to walk around.
However, we are very much in the country and there is no public
transport up here. If you're visiting for more than a day or
two we recommend you rent a car at the airport, so that you can
get around and enjoy our beautiful area. Otherwise
the Academy offers a pick-up service between the Portland Jetport
and Fryeburg. The Academy is a 10 minute walk from us.
Please call us (207) 935-3365 or email us if you have any other
questions.
