State Parks and Natural Wonders

Mt Washington. Rte 16
Climb to over 6,000 feet on the famous Mount Washington Auto road (pictured) in either a mountain mini-bus or as a self-guided tour in your own vehicle. Take your camera for spectacular views from the summit, then tour the Observatory's museum and buildings where you'll learn all about the infamous weather atop our highest peak. The Observatory also maintains an educational weather center in North Conway - an ideal place to go on a rainy day!

Lost River Gorge. Rte 112W Kinsman Notch.
Walk the boardwalks through caverns and gorges and discover a natural wonder virtually unchanged since its formation by glacial melting, 25,000 years ago.

Cathedral Ledge. West Side Road, North Conway
A granite outcrop famous among rock climbers for its technical climbing. For those wanting to get there the easy way, take the back road up to the parking lot and then the path through the trees to the viewing area. Great views of North Conway and lower valley.
