Maine is keeping it strange with snow and spring at the same time

Hilary has run off to spend Easter with her family, leaving me and the cats to mind the house. Initially she told me of the nice (short-lived) weather at her mom’s house. Here, on Monday was snow followed by nearly 6 inches of rain. The back yard looked regatta worthy and the Saco was the highest that I’ve ever seen it without any ice dam to enhance the level. I’ve heard that it reached over 9 feet above normal, for spring. For those that wander down to the town beach in the summer just look at the bridge and imagine the water is within 3 feet of the bottom of the bridge! After the rain came spring. Our temps jumped up to 83F on Saturday. So to make sure Hilary thinks I did something while she was gone I managed to rake the lawn, move beer to secondary fermentation, chase the cats, and go for my first spring bike ride. And today was also brilliant, sunny, mid 70′s, brewing more beer, and the first daffodil arrived. I checked in with Hilary and it’s cold and wet in England right now. On Wednesday when we are forecast for a warm rain she will be in snow in Scotland… for the first time I will be the one with a tan once she returns. Here are some photos from the Saco flooding and some spring flowers.
