always something going on. Discover the cultural and artistic
side to our region by treating yourself to some first class
musical and theatre productions by world-class performers.
• Stone
Mountain Arts Center has only been
open a short time but its already gained a great reputation for
attracting leading artists such as Marty Stuart , Mary Chapin
Carpenter, Béla Fleck, Paula Poundstone and The Indigo
Girls.
Just 15 minutes from us in rural Brownfield ME, its an unlikely
spot, but check-out the upcoming program.
• Polar
Express. North Conway. Held during December, this journey
re-creating the popular book is now in its 11th season. Tickets
are tough to come by and are available by lottery only or by
staying with us on selected weekends.
• The oldest summer theatre in
the country - The
Barnstormers - is located in nearby Tamworth. This longstanding
theatre company offers a complete line-up of productions given
by Equity actors during July and August every year. Lodging
packages are available.
• The Deertrees
Theatre in Harrison, ME presents an eclectic offering of
over fifty productions during a season that runs from late
June until early September. Listed on the National Registry
of Historic Places, this unique venue is well worth a visit.
• Fryeburg Academy hosts the International Musical
Arts festival in July every year, attracting classical
musicians from around the world.
• August sees the White
Mountain Musical Arts Bach Festival. Held on the weekend
before Labor Day, expect to see some internationally recognized
artists perform some of Bach's greatest works. Guest and local
performers complete the program.
• The Mt
Washington Valley Theatre Company presents professional
broadway productions at the Eastern Slope Playhouse in North
Conway village. Pulling professional actors, directors and
crew from across the country, the casts meet each summer on
stage.
