What better way to spend a long hot summer day than on the water.
Paddle a canoe, enjoy a lake cruise on our extensive
waterways or find a quiet pond and a boat and go fishing.
• Saco
River Canoe in Fryeburg has a variety of hourly or daily
programs on the Saco (pictured). Enjoy a leisurely one day
trip around Mt. Tom to Walker's Bridge or simply paddle down
to the beach for a leisurely picnic. Tell Prudy and Fred we
sent you!
• Looking a little further, take
a scenic drive down to Wolfeboro or Meredith on Lake Winnipesaukee
and hop aboard the MS
Mount Washington for a day or evening cruise with dinner.
• There's lots of great fishing
in Maine. Bait is readily available and you can get licenses
from most marinas, Town Halls, some merchants and online.
• Several guides are available
if you prefer fishing with a Maine guide. Tours provide boat,
tackle and all your needs and your guide will select a lake
or pond or take you to one of your choices.
• Songo Locks just south of Naples are
worth a trip whether by boat or by car. Boat rentals are available
in Naples if you'd like to join the other recreational watercraft
heading for Sebago Lake, or simply watch from the bank as the
lock-tender manually operates the lock.
• If the beach is more your style,
there are many public beaches on the lakes and rivers with
the nearest on the Saco
River just a 1/4 mile away.
