Reputedly, Mt Washington has the worst weather in the world and occasionally some of it find its way down here to the valley. In case you get caught up in some so-nice-weather, here are some ideas for indoor activities.

• Visit the Mt Washington Weather Discovery Center in North Conway and learn why Mt Washington's weather is so extreme!

• The Shakers are well-known in New England for the simple lines of their furniture and other household goods. Take a tour of the Shaker Museum at the last remaining active Shaker community in Gloucester, Maine.

• See how the bottled water plant got started at Poland Spring, way back in 1845.
