Waterfalls abound in the White Mountains and an entire day can
be spent without visiting them all. To get the best of them,
make sure you check out our Waterfall Tour or ask us for recommendations.
• Diana's Baths. West Side Road, North
Conway.
One of the most beautiful spots in New Hampshire, Diana's Baths is actually a
series of waterfalls and is ideal for a picnic or an hour or so of quiet reflection.
Follow a 3/4 mile level boardwalk into the woods.
• The
Flume Gorge. US-3, Franconia State Park.
Walk through this 800 ft. natural chasm past waterfalls and scenic
pools to Avalanche Falls, once called Flume Cascade, located
at the head of the Flume. There's a free 15-minute movie on Franconia
Notch State Park and informative displays in the Visitor Center.
• There are several waterfalls
along the Kancamagus Highway. Traveling west, explore Lower Falls and Rocky
Gorge, especially popular on a hot summer day. The picturesque Sabbaday
Falls are well worth the .3 mile easy walk from the
parking area. Franconia Falls are reached via
a 3.2 mile level walk, approximately 4 miles east of Lincoln.
• Silver and Flume Cascades are just
off the road on Rte 302 in Crawford Notch. Spectacularly covered
in icicles during the winter. Careful crossing the road!
• Crystal Cascade. 80ft falls in Pinkham
Notch.
Park at the Pinkham Notch Campground. Go around the Trading Post
to the left and follow the trail a short distance to the falls.
Expect others to be there!
• Glen Ellis Falls. Rte 16. Pinkham Notch.
One of the best falls in the area. Follow the easy trail from
the parking lot approximately 1/4 mile to the falls.
• Bickford Slides. Rte 113 Evans Notch,
ME.
3 slides starting approximately 1.4 miles along the Bickford
Brook Trail at Brickett Place.
• Screw Auger Falls. Grafton Notch State
Park, ME.
Good picnic place just off Rte 26. Take the short walk from the
parking area along the stream to the falls themselves. |
